Yard of the Month Program Rules

Yard of the Month Program

The Beautification Committee will award a monthly winner during the months of April through September for landscaping, October through December (Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas) for holiday decorations and February and March for porch appearance. Each monthly winner will receive recognition on the HOA’s website and in the HOA’s quarterly newsletter. The winner will also have the honor of displaying the official “Northside Meadow Yard of the Month” yard sign that identifies their property as the Yard of the Month winner.

Judging Criteria

Landscaping Awards (April through September)

Yard of the Month candidates for landscaping are judged solely on the exterior appearance of their property as viewed from the street. Yards will be judged on neatness, landscaping and color. Overall appearance and factors include, but are not limited to, tidiness and neatness of the front and side yards up to the fence line, pruned and trimmed trees and shrubs, edged and defined lawns, borders and flower beds without bare spots and excessive weeds and a visually appealing facade. Driveways and walkways shall be clean, edged and free of debris and dirt.

Decorative Awards (October through December)

Yard of the Month candidates for decorative awards are judged solely on the exterior appearance of their property as viewed from the street. General maintenance and upkeep of the yard and home is included in the judging. Overall appearance, tastefulness, creativity, decorating in the “spirit of the holiday” and a visually appealing facade are considered.

Porch Awards (February and March)

Porch awards are judged on the use of originality and creativity to create an inviting front entryway and a positive overall appearance as viewed from the street. The arrangement may be formal or informal with the use of color, textures, flowers and pots.
